My
Sister's Closet Consignment was founded July 2005
by Lori E King.
My story is simple but the culmination of my experiences
has brought me here! There is a special connection
between siblings, but none as close as twins. As a
twin whose sister had twin boys on the way, it was
the perfect time for me to consider relocation. This
was my opportunity to ensure that I was part of the
boy's lives, as well as, my chance to start a new
life for in this dynamic city just blooming with growth.
Two days before Jack and Harry were scheduled to arrive,
I moved to Nashville with no job or place to live.
However, drawing upon my 20 years of experience in
retail, my passion for fashion and coming from a family
of entrepreneurs, I decided to open a consignment
store nested in the quaint city of Green Hills.
Opening the business allowed me to realize my dreams
which were two fold in design: First, I wanted to
utilize my experience and love of retail. Secondly,
I wanted to make a civic contribution to the community
for which I serve. This is accomplished in three ways.
The consignment model allows me to donate unsold merchandise
to charities in Nashville, TN. Next, my love of animals
fostered my desire to create an Animal Rescue. Lastly,
I believe that working with interns from Belmont University
and Vanderbilt fosters their growth in a competitive
job market while experiencing how to run a successful
business! Owning my own business allows me to create
a company that believes success is only as good as
what I give back!
My
personal passions are found in family, friends, nature
and the love of the outdoors. Animals are a significant
part of my life. My animal rescue roots began when
I moved to Nashville. The first two weeks I was living
in Nashville, I lost both of my dogs, Mandy and Meisha.
Fortunately, we did recover Meisha, but never recovered
Mandy-my baby! The saying goes "something good always
comes from something bad" this is so true. While
looking for Mandy, I found this wonderful world of
animal rescuers which led me to my calling. Animal
Rescue! In looking for Mandy, I met a lot of selfless
individuals who have given generously both of their
money and time to help save the cast-offs of human
society. A group of us decided that we could best
contribute to the unwanted animals by starting an
organization called Nashville Animal Rescue Co-Op.
The mission of this organization is to collect and
distribute donations to small, struggling pet-rescue
organizationsóoften run by a single individual- whose
time and energy are so devoted to helping animals
in need that they have few resources left over to
campaign for funds themselves. Since we began our
organization we have saved countless animals (dogs/puppies,
cats/kittens, horses, hamsters, pigs and birds-to
name a few) from being euthanized as well as saved
animals from living in despicable, tortuous, and deplorable
conditions. I truly feel like I am making a difference!
We pride ourselves in that 100% of the proceeds go
to the animals! Refer to our link on the home page
for more information and how you too can donate to
a worthy cause!
With
such a loyal commitment from my clients/consignors
the first location is a wonderful success. This afforded
me the opportunity to open a second location in November
2006. My Sister's Closet caters to all demographics
in Nashville and surrounding areas. Green Hills offers
career attire with classic solutions and a hint of
flair. Whereas, the Villa is geared towards the hype
younger customer who is a trend conscience shopper.
Together, we are able to create solutions for the
shopper that desires fashionable clothes at a competitive
price with great service!
I
hope you take the opportunity very soon to shop one
or both (they are 4 miles apart) of my stores. Everyday
there is something new to see.
